Resignation of Larry Hyett as Trustee

The trustees are sad to announce that Larry decided to step down a few months ago as trustee after many years of service to the charity during which he also served for some time as chairman. He gave the following statement at his last meeting:

“I was asked to become a trustee by members of the Community and later to stand as chair of Trustees which included supporting the path to a new village hall project and making trustee meetings accountable, democratic, and disciplined and encouraging the participation of all trustees.

I have to give thanks to both Jacqui as secretary and David as Treasurer. Without their sterling support we would not have been a successful team of trustees.

The introduction of the Friends of the the Village Hall project and linking it to the community has turned into a valuable asset for which I give my personal thanks”

Use of Hall Tables

The tables for use in the Hall are all stored in the annex. The legs should be fully locked in use. When collapsing the legs after use, great care must be taken when unlocking the legs. There is a plastic tool hanging up by the annex wall opening, this can be used to release the legs.

A number of tables have been damaged by forcing the legs to close without releasing the clip. Any breakages will have to be paid for before any further hire of the hall. Any of the trustees or regular users will gladly show you how to operate the legs.

Kitchen Knives

All sharp knives from the kitchen have been removed following guidance from AIRS (Action in Rural Sussex). Hirers are reminded to bring their own or contact the booking team. A lock box on the counter holds our sharp knives. number 8298. Please lock after use

Cooker

We have a new Cooker, please leave it as you find it. A full set of instructions is on the counter by the cooker. The large front burner and the adjacent front burner work on full power when turning the control knob clockwise.

Trustee or Friends of the Village Hall

Would you consider becoming a Trustee or would like to be a ‘Friend of the Village Hall’?

To continue to make our village hall a well used and maintained community asset and ensure that the Parish community continues to enjoy its benefits, it needs your support.

The Trustees, who volunteer their time, are seeking to co opt community members to assist in keeping the hall an asset to be proud of. The hall relies on hire charges and fund raising events to maintain the facility and Trustees are involved in fund raising, promotion, advertising and organising events.

If you have a particular interest, skill, knowledge or expertise to offer, to help take the hall forward or just want to find out a little bit more about being involved please contact secretary@esvh.org.uk
